Celebrating International Tea Day – Honoring Women in Tea

May 21st marks International Tea Day, and this year’s theme shines a spotlight on the critical role women play in tea production and distribution. In alignment with this theme, the Malawi tea industry is proud to join the global celebration by recognizing, supporting, and empowering women across our tea value chain.
To commemorate this important occasion, we have lined up a series of activities that highlight our ongoing commitment to gender equity in the industry:
Friday, May 23: We will host a Women’s Leadership Conference at Home Town Lodge, Luchenza. This platform will bring together women from across the tea sector to share experiences, build networks, and inspire each other towards greater leadership and influence.
Saturday, May 24: We will hold a Grand Tea Day Celebration, featuring a keynote address and various activities led by women from the tea industry, celebrating their vital contributions to the sector.
As we celebrate International Tea Day, we reaffirm our dedication to creating a more inclusive and equitable tea industry where women thrive and lead.
